britta merwin is in philadelphia with the latest. britta. >> good morning, maria.ikely see some problems in philadelphia international airport as well. that's south of downtown where i'm standing. those are the famous rocky steps right behind me. they're under a winter storm warning at the airport where we're expecting heavier snow in the south side of the city than downtown. here in downtown, we have a winter weather advisory. we'll pick up about 1 to 3 inches of snow which i know doesn't sound like a ton of snow but let's talk about snow in the northeast. we really haven't seen much. for downtown philadelphia, the last time they saw over 5 inches of snow was back in 2022. we're going to be just shy of that. but just 20 miles south of here they're going to get hammered with more than half a foot of snow. in washington, d.c. we have a snow emergency in effect. a lot of pretreatment on the road, take it easy out there. we're tracking the winter storm on fox weather all day long. maria: we'll be watching that, britta, thank you so much. britta merwin. meanwhile, ther

fox weather meteorologist britta merwin joins us now with an update. ryl. it's brutally cold morning. on top of that we have a major winter storm that is utilizing the brutally cold air to produce white-out conditions. yes, we have the first ever blizzard warning issued by the national weather service office out of lake charles, louisiana and parts of interstate 10 in louisiana completely shut down. it is snowing on the shores of the gulf of mexico in texas and louisiana. we can see over 5 inches of snow in louisiana by the time we end today. the cold air does extend border to border, up to the north we have feel like temperatures as cold as negative 55 degrees in due lieutenant, minnesota. it's going to stay cold all the way through friday. no matter where you live, we're in it together. also, we do have breaking news on fox weather, a new fire has erupted outside of es candido, call imporcalifornia. join us on fox weather today. cheryl: real quick, those winds are picking up, right, in los angeles? >> we have a high wind warning where winds could be s
