(garnt) it was a bart police officer that fired his gun late this afternoon. the shooting was near 7th and center streets... around 4:30....just steps from the west oakland bart station. investigators are not saying what specifically led up to the shooting...but they say a gun was found near the two men who were shot. police say the two people got in an argument that somehow resulted in gunfire. at least one bart police officer also fired his gun..but we do yet not know... if he hit one or both of the suspects. one man died at the hospital. the other man is in serious condition. police have not said if the officer was injured. the west oakland bar

meteorologist brittney shipp is at penns landing where people are enjoying the warmest day of the year. >> light jacket. let's start with meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz. >> we have really jumped in the temperature department. we had three days in a row of temperatures that didn't even get up to 20. there's even warmer air to the west. that's going to be moving in. not so much tomorrow. you'll really notice it on thursday. and friday and at least through the early part of saturday. but there is colder air that's going to be coming back in behind it. it's not a permanent thing. now that we have warmed up a bit. 44 in philadelphia. we have now dropped into the 30s very quickly. and with the snow cover, the temperatures are going to be dropping very quickly tonight. look at this. . by 7:00 a.m., 21 in philadelphia. so anything today is going to freeze solid tonight. parts of south jersey that had the big snow cover will be well down into the teens tonight. maybe even a couple spots in the single digits. but much warler weather is on the way. i'll get into that coming up. >> kevin

(catherine) police officers in face masks and protective gear were searching the san bernadino county home today where they say 13 people were held captive by their parents.. david and louise turpin are accused of keeping their children locked up and starving...the couple was arrested sunday. also today......the family who now owns a texas home where the turpins used to live...saythey found some troubling things when they moved in... they now wonder if strange scratch marks on the inside of doors were made by the captive kids.... the owners - who didn't want to be identified - said they also found strange ventsin bedroom closets and believe the couple's children might have been locked in there.. they took photos when they moved in to document what they found....and say the home was left in complete squalor. the turpins had lost the home in a foreclosure. the woman who lives there described them as hoarders...saying there were so many belongings, it was hard to move around. the turpin

(steve) a fire broke out at a cardboard manufacturing plant in santa clara. (catherine) the building had to be evacuated -and no one was injured. the fire started after one-am on matthew street near san jose's airport. . it took firefighters several hours to put out the fire....with more than 30 firefighters responding. lots of stacked cardboard was found at the facility - which had firefighters worriedabout it spreading. sot"the biggest concern we had was some of the areas where there was liquid propane gas and other areas inside the storage yard that were exposed to flames and also that densely packed cardboard. some of those things as they burn topple over so we were dealing with that proximity issue as well"(catherine) there was also a concern about the possibility of electrocution with high voltage lines at the facility. but power was shut down and firefighters were able to control the situation. the caus
