let's get to nbc10's meteorologist brittney shipp. >> it's mainly in areas of the pocono mountains, in lehigh valley. as you take a look outside, we're taking a look at the snow coming down in the poconos. as i show you the radar shots, i'll show you how fast the lingering snow is moving out. confined to the poconos in trenton moving out of norristown. heading into the rest of today. expect temperatures to stay well below average. we should be at 52 degrees for this time of year. instead by 9:00 a.m., 36 degrees and cold by noon, 39 and cloudy. and 4:00 p.m., 37 degrees. some areas will warm into the 40s today. i am tracking the return with warmer temperatures in my seven-day forecast. i'll go over the details on that for now, let's check in with jillian for a closer look at traffic. good morning. >> good morning to you, brittney. we're still having a few accidents that we're dealing with out there, wet slick roads. this is the ramp woodhaven 95 northbound. you can see this accident right here. it's actually a vehicle that slid off the ramp and into the trees in that area. use caution.

all that news is weather today, and that's why meteorologist brittney shipp is here to let us know hows storm is going to play out in the counties north and west. we're talking lehigh, northampton, berks, some of those counties and in the poconos. >> yeah, because in those particular areas, we're going to see different things versus the i-95 corridor or south jersey or even parts of delaware. so, we'll start off north and west and also the poconos, where we have a winter storm warning that's going to go in effect in the next hour. what that basically means is all of our travel conditions are going to deteriorate. take a look at what happens between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m. we're going to see a quick changeover to mainly snowfall for reading, allentown, quakertown, stretching down into pottstown, doylestown, even into mt. pocono as we head into the rest of the morning. some of our heaviest snowfall will come down as we get into the afternoon. so, we do expect upwards of 8 inches. by 6:00 p.m., we're going to start to see more rain working its way in. by 10:00 p.m., we will also start to see a

brittney shipp is here with a look at how the cold blast is hitting other parts of the country. >> that's right, sheena. it's not just the cold but the snow. we've been getting great pictures on social media of how the cold blast that's coming our way is already affecting other parts of the country. the snow is not coming our way but the snow is. here's the university of minnesota, the leaves on the tree, we're also dealing with the snowfall here. here's another shot at the university of minnesota. joe rio says it's been snowing since monday. i'm so over the snow although it's not even winter yet. here's another look from denver, below zero, another look at some of the pets playing in the snowfall. we've seen 3 to 6 inches in the denver area the forecast high staying in the single digits. that's more than 45 degrees below the average. for other parts of our country, we're 20 to 30 degrees below average. take a closer look at some of the temperatures we'll see as we head into the rest of tonight, we stay at freezing for oklahoma city. single digits in denver, mid-20s in minneapolis, 32 in

nbc 10 first alert meteorologist brittney shipp is giving us a look at how the holiday storm will play out county by county. so, walk us through this. who will see the snow first? >> the poconos, lehigh valley and suburbs to the north and west. so, if we get you right to that region, i'll show you, by 9:00 a.m., you can see most of the rainfall, according to this model, will have switched tovov to snowfall, including west chester, doylestown, allentown, quakertown, all seeing snowfall late in the morning hours. once the snowfall starts, it will continue with the heaviest bands between 3:00 and 7:00. as we push closer to 10:00 p.m., that's when you'll see the snow start to taper off. now to the i-95 corridor, it's mainly rainfall throughout the late morning hours. the winter weather advisory doesn't go into effect until 9:00 a.m., but we do expect heading into the late morning hours more of a mix of rain and snow and gusty wind speeds up to about 25 miles per hour. so, again, here's the rain-snow line. when you start to see the pink, that's snow mixing in with the rainfall. so, we could
