meteorologist brittney shipp is here with her first alert forecast. good morning, brittney. >> good morning. it will be a nice start to the day. temperatures already on the mild side in the mid-60s for philadelphia, eventually heading into the afternoon, we'll warm into the mid-80s. above average for us. a look outside right now. seeing a mix of sun and clouds but it is a first alert weather day now because of the chance of severe storms as we head into the afternoon and into the evening. heavy downpours possible flooding will be a possibility. damaging winds especially for the areas highlighted in yellow our entire area could see a chance of thunderstorm activity. it's this area that is under the chance for severe storms meaning wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour. some of the stronger thunderstorms can produce hail. we want everyone to be careful as you are driving home from work for today. seeing a few scattered showers moving into the poconos, unsettled weather off to the west of us. we will continue to see that chance of rain and thunderstorms head

let's get to the sunday forecast with first alert meteorologist brittney shipp. still some father's day showers outs there. >> still some showers. as we head into the morning, we will have a chance of lingering showers. look at how wet the roads are in cape may. we are not completely done with this system, but the heaviest rain in cape may, you probably heard it last night as you were sleeping. you can still make out the circulation there. let's zoom in and show you where it is still raining. this is just to the south of new york here near middletown. we are seeing light rainfall if i take you over to the shore here closer to the shore near maurice river and closer to cape may where we showed you that camera. sea isle city still dealing with downpours. over in delaware dover, riverview, south of milford all seeing some rainfall now. also just to the west of lewis. this is something we will continue tracking as we head into the rest of this morning. it will remain spotty and a chance of downpours. moving through baltimore now we have this circulation here swinging

meteorologist brittney shipp is here with the forecast. what about it? we'll see the first alert go into effect laughing until tonight and some areas to the suburbs to the north and west have a better chance of seeing the severe storms in the city and south jersey and right along the shore. flooding is a possibility especially if you get a strong thunderstorm cell and it doesn't move. the severe outlook shows the areas highlighted in yellow have the best chance to see the severe thunderstorm. philadelphia has a chance to see severe thunderstorm activity heading into the afternoon and the severe thunderstorms mean that they could see wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour and hail is a possibility and those heavy downpours and you want to be careful if you're traveling home from work and we want to give you a head's up so that you're alert with the situation moving in and we have a cold front moving towards us and you see the rain ahead of the cold front and that's where you continue to push eastward. as you head into the rest of today, and by 3:00 p.m. those

let's say good morning again to meteorologist brittney shipp in the first alert weather center. brittney it's a warm morning that's going to get a little wet. >> that's right. it's been a mild start so far. as we head into the afternoon, temperatures will go into the low 80s. we've issued a first alert for the possibility of flooding and heavy rain we expect to see into the overnight hours tonight leading into early sunday morning. so here's a closer look at the first alert issued for the flood watch that's mainly going to be in effect for the entire area from 8:00 p.m. tonight to tomorrow at 8:00 p.m. increased street and creek flooding possible. be careful as you're driving around. especially if you're staying out late tonight or early tomorrow morning. our radar shows what's left of tropical depression bill. and we're seeing a few isolated showers. but the main part of this system will not get here until closer to 10:00, 11:00 at night. but we will see a few showers ahead of that. you'll know when it gets here. it will be heavy rain moving in probably while you're sleeping. 71

let's get to brittney shipp in the weather center. good morning. >> good morning. we are expecting another round of heavy rain. we are going to see mostly cloudy skies. we did see an isolated batch of thunderstorms move through. but first we'll talk about the weather story which is the first alert weather day which will go into effect this afternoon into tonight. we have a flood watch that's already going into effect for half of our area. 1 to 3 inches expected. here's a six-hour loop. it shows the heavy rainfall that was mainly isolated over 76 lower merion. 2 to 3 inch ts of isolated rain came down. specific cities saw a lot of rain in a short amount of time and that led to flooding. we have more rain on the way into the start of your weekend. here's the timing of the rain as it's expected to move in. closer to 11 a.m. and noon that's when we'll see light showers pushing in. then into the rest of your afternoon hours, won't be until closer to 7:00 p.m. we'll see the heavier rain moving in and our chance of storms throughout the area. you'll notice this rain doesn
