. >>> a well-known bay area website hacked, $1 million worth of tickets for concerts and broadway shows have been stolen. scott budman has the story. a way to protect your information in your online accounts. scott? >> reporter: that's right, janelle, the website is stub hub owned by san jose e-commerce giant ebay. russian hackers were able to access stub hub and break in using e-mails and accounts that were taken when they were able to get stub hub passwords. so they went in and bought tickets to yankee games, broadway shows, and justin timberlake concerts using the user accounts. they resold the tickets for a profit. now seven people have been arrested. what the district attorney called an international cyber crime ring. the money has been paid back to stub hub users, and the bay area man who started the investigation told us he noticed suspicious activity while he was working at stub hub. >> just a large number of customer accounts being touched and transactions occurring on them. as soon as that was detected, they would have -- we kicked off an investigation. >> reporter: it's worth
