you know, actually standing at the intersection of 17th street and broadway, broadway and annapolis, indiana, both 6202. this is the spot where on april 4th, robert kennedy gave his impromptu speech, so to speak, informing the crowd of martin luther king's assassination. i was in a position on this side. so if you look at the picture up there of robert kennedy at the time he gave his speech, of course, this a collage. but that was that was the angle from which i was looking at. and i was no more than 25 feet away. so i was relatively close being here as early as i was. so i got a good spot. we did get here early. 24 years old at the time, just got out of the navy the year before i came home and in annapolis it changed somewhat. i mean, this was still a predominantly black neighborhood. i had spent four years in the navy and become a journeyman printer and i came home and i couldn't get a job. based on the experience because. it was 1968 and i was a young black man, basically. so i was here with a group of young people about my age and some maybe a little younger. i wanted to see for

it's a big deal for me. >> jimmy: now it's on broadway. >> and now it's on broadway.t's a real story, and because it's a real story, you see the friendships, you see the conflict. you know, it's also a great depiction of how you make change in america. how frustrating it is, the outside-inside game. i mean, the people who had been at this for so many years, they're getting tired but they're -- they're thinking, you know, they've got to convince president wilson, they've got to convince the congress. and they're playing the inside game. then the younger women who always show up and say, "wait a a minute, we've got to do it differently." and they'd been in england and they'd seen how the suffragettes in england had pushed for the vote. and so there's a conflict between those who have been at it a long time, and those who want it done faster. and they think they have a a better idea. it's such a great drama. and the music is absolutely contagious. and the last -- the last song, not to give anything away -- is about "keep marching." and what is more important than to be r
