but brock purdy gets the 49ers the best opportunity to win. there's been points this season where he looked like the mvp versus chicago, and i believe it was a game earlier this season where he came out the gate, let him down to two consecutive scores, and then there's been games like the buffalo bills game and the game last week versus the la rams, where he turned the football over late and they couldn't really get the consistent type of playmaking and consistency that we're accustomed to seeing on this offense. so i would say that brock purdy at times looked like he pressed too much not having his his weapons out there. but for the most part, brock purdy is everything that this football team needs. he just needs players around him healthy and performing up to the level that they're expecting. what jumps out from last year's comparison is the 31 touchdowns versus only 17 this year. last season, he did lead the nfl in yards per catch. he led the nfl in passer rating and he was in the mvp conversation. he finished in fourth. t that bar was so h

they have to help out brock purdy and help them out themselves. the niners had five pre-snap penalties in the game last week. those are penalties before the ball is snapped where all of a sudden now you're in a first and 15 situation or a first and 20 situation. if it happens to be a holding, you get into those long down and distances. what does that mean? youu can rely on the screen game. you can't rely on running the ball drop. brock purdy is going to have to drop back and pass against a lions team that that blitz the most out of any team in the nfl. so you're going to get the help from kyle shanahan with the game plan. but the players have to help themselves by not committing mistakes. that makes the game plan, have to adjust and put that in the favor of the detroit lions. we will take our first break. when we'll come back, we'll talk about two of the playmakers for the 49ers one who's quietly having a remarkable season, and another one who just had a breakout game a little late in his season. we'll delve into those two guys when we continue on
