when i think about my own experience, i'm from the bronx new york, i'm puerto rican, woman of color, i hold empowered identities, i didn't have a turning point moment where an incident happened to family or friends or people like me and instead the way i was growing up, recognizing i was living in mostly working-class people, people who have experienced different entry points in this country and then all of a sudden i started my first experience at what i call and many people call pwi, predominantly white institution, my undergraduate experience at colombia was a moment where i realized i was gaining all this privilege all of a sudden by being amongst the world leaders and intellects and having resources and then i realized that my whole life growing up there was something missing and that in and of itself is type of oppression against people of color and against immigrants, when i think about what led me into being activist, i think i've always been activist, i didn't know that's what i was when i was growing up. i definitely had series of moments and sparks when i was on being advo
