i'm brooke baldwin. breaking news from our nation's capital. a man who once appeared on an mtv reality show has been arrested after allegedly making threats against metro buses and trains all in washington, d.c. let's go to our correspondent, who has much more on who exactly this man is and what he was trying to do. >> brooke police say this man, who goes by kid cole made 11 phone calls over the last five months to 911, in which he called in specific bomb threats that were false and false hostage threats. specifically targeted brooke to d.c. area metro stations and trains and subways here in d.c. the latest threat happening just three weeks ago in early may in which he called in what he believed was a specific threat to a bus that was parked at a metro station here in d.c. now, after the fact the police found each one of these 11 phone calls to be completely a hoax. and they say, though of course at the time they had to scramble

what do the gateway factors mean brooke? they dive a little bit deeper into the level of intent that tsarnaev had in committing these crimes. all they have to do is find one gateway factor. there are four that are listed and all they have to do is find one. i want to point out for everybody that's listening, during the closing arguments, the prosecution was masterful. they spent a ton of time talking about the fact that tsarnaev chose a spot right behind martin richard's family. martin richard is the 8-year-old killed during that attack and his sister had both of her legs blown off. he stood there -- and during the closing argument the prosecution was silent for 20 seconds. after 20 seconds went by he said tsarnaev stood just feet away from this family for 12 times the amount of time i was just silent. it was a riveting moment in that courtroom. and the reason why the prosecution did it is because one of the gateway factors that shows the level of intent that you have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt was that he killed som

i'm brooke baldwin. developing outside the white house here just in the last half hour a street on the north side of the white house has reopened but police shut it down entirely after this man attempted to fly this drone. here's the photo of it. we're seeing this for the first time. tried to fly this over the fence of the white house. you don't want to try to do that. pamela brown, cnn justice correspondent. tell me what exactly is this thing, and what was this man trying to do? >> well first of all, brooke you're not allowed to fly drones in d.c. let alone around the white house. that is a restricted air space. what we can tell you here and we see a picture of this drone, the small uav that was used in this case. the secret service just releasing this statement basically saying that secret service uniformed division officers saw this man flying the u uav. he was then detained by secret service and instructed to land the small uav. the statement says that he did comply and the small uav was recovered in

i'm brooke baldwin. thank you so much for being with me here on this memorial day. i want to begin with this developing story we're following. several threats being made against incoming airline flights to the united states. in fact at one point the air force scrambled two f-15 fighter jets to escort an air france passenger jet heading into new york's jfk airport. a caller apparently warned a chemical weapon was on board. let's talk about all this. jean casarez is here with me in new york. none of these threats have been credible, correct? >> no and we want to get that out, but it's still a developing story. there were multiple calls of threats in regard to airliners that were in the air today. once again, nothing has been deemed to be credible at all. but the north american aerospace defense command is confirming with cnn that in regard to the air france flight 22, they issued two f-15 fighter jets to escort it into jfk where it landed at 10:17 without incident. now, that plane has not been cleared yet,

i'm brooke baldwin. we have to begin in philadelphia where at any time this train driver in this amtrak crash, the engineer will tell investigators exactly what he remembers about the minutes before that derailment. he is brandon bostian. he's in the hospital apparently suffering memory loss after his train rolled. but really a bigger question right now is this. what the nine-year amtrak veteran can add to what the evidence already shows. his lawyer says he does want to cooperate fully, but the thing is he can't remember the crash. but the evidence here in this case doesn't lie. what we now know is that not only did the train not slow down as it entered that dangerous curve, we've actually learned now it sped up from 70 miles an hour to more than 100 miles an hour. it happened in just more than a minute. bostian isn't saying much right now, as we mentioned, but his friends, his colleagues are speaking out on his behalf saying he never would have been deliberately reckless. it was a claim made by philadel

i'm brooke baldwin. communities all across the midwest and the plains are really now in recovery mode after this deadly line of storms including more than 70 reported tornadoes hit across multiple states. at least five deaths have been confirmed with many more people injured. let's focus right now in this area in texas. so much of this devastation hit the northeastern texas town of van. this is just east of dallas. i can tell you two people there are dead eight others are missing. officials say at least a third of this town that's roughly 100 homes were just absolutely as you can see, obliterated. all these buildings, facilities some schools as well. schools, businesses destroyed here. across much of this region as much as four inches of rain turned roads into rivers. there were harrowing rescue scenes from the raging waters cars totally submerged, people just stuck in their homes. the mayor of van, texas, praised the way the community pulled together and jumped in to action. >> we were here all night, a
