let's head back to brooke baldwin who is live for us in boston. >> okay, john, thank you. it is a rainy, chilly night here in boston. that's not stopping so many people who have been out and about. >> reporter: suddenly, tonight, just a couple hours ago, fear quickly morphed into relief. this younger brother, 19-year-old dzhokhar tsarnaev. there also was plenty of appreciation for the s.w.a.t. team that helped in this evening's man hunt. >> reporter: in addition to people who live here in boston cheering on, the authorities saw the governor of massachusetts adding his things and gratitude. the governor declared it's a night where we are all going to rest easy. and i think a lot of people will get a good night's sleep. one officer told the crowd "if you want to thank us, just go home." he's just one of the officers who's been spending tireless days and nights here. police announced they got their man. it has been an absolutely terrifying week here for the people in boston. that fear is finally done. >> it was really this moment after the news came that police had captured t

i'm brooke baldwin. busy morning of developments. let's begin with investigators looking into a bizarre and fascinating possibility that his older brother, a devout muslim, with fundamental beliefs may have funded attacks by peddling illegal drugs. the father of dzhokhar and tamerlan say terrorists are threatening the family in southern russia. both his sons are innocent and that they were somehow framed. their mother takes it one step farther, she believes this bloody crime scene here in boston was no more than a lot of smoke. actors, she says, played the main victims, and the blood was nothing more than paint. this from the suspected bombers here. much more on that in a moment. first, russian president vladimvladmir putin urging closer cooperation with the united states and this follows concern that by some that u.s. intelligence agencies failed to follow through on concerns from russia. russia asked americans to investigate tamerlan tsavraev because he appeared to be sliding into islamic extremism. th

i want to go now to our own brooke baldwin in cambridge, massachusetts. n with an auto body shop owner who apparently has new information on the case. what have you learned? >> reporter: yeah, jake. what an interview it was. this entire city has really been on this hunt for the killer or killers from monday. this 19-year-old suspect walked right down the street from his apartment in norfolk street to this auto body shop and acted very curiously with this auto body owner saying he thought he was on drugs it was so bizarre. never seen him like this. the day after the marathon. watch this. >> tuesday i saw the youngest one, the youngest brother. he came to my shop. he was standing right there. he was working on a car and he came i would say around like 12:30, 1:00. and had a car dropping here, which was two weeks ago, and he told me the car belongs to his girlfriend. you know, he disappeared for two weeks and one tuesday he came here to see where is the car? it's in the parking lot but i haven't worked on it yet. i removed the rear bumper and the tail lights.

i'm fredricka whitfield in for brooke baldwin. the chief prosecutor in houston is under 24 hour protection. and law enforcement officials across the state of texas are treading with caution today after the second recent murder of one of their own. tough talking prosecutor mike mclelland was found dead sunday morning. mclelland's wife was slain as well. their bodies were found at their home in kaufman county, the same texas county where assistant d.a. mark hasse was shot dead back in january. hasse's murder in broad daylight prompted this challenge to the killers by the now dead mclelland. >> i hope that the people that did this are watching because we're very confident that we're going to find you, we're going to pull you out of whatever hole you're in, we're going to bring you back and let the people of kaufman county prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law. >> law enforcement officials including the fbi want to know if the killings were linked and whether white supremacists may have been involved here. recent indictments

i'm fredricka whitfield in for brooke baldwin. we have a developing story out of north texas. these two prisoners are on the loose this hour. the one on the right is being held on a charge of capital murder. his name is brian alan tucker. john marlon king on the left was being held for allegedly evading a theft charge. they escaped from the hopkins county jail northeast of kaufman county, which is reeling from the murders of two prosecutors. sergeant brad cummings is with the hopkins county sheriff's office. how and when did the men escape? >> officers were advised this morning about 8:20 that we did have two males later identified as tucker and king that apparently they were on the recreation yard and they were able to manipulate the fencing area and slip through a part of the fence. and they took off east of the sheriff's office. >> well, you know, that's quite detailed in how you believe it happened. but one has to wonder, how could something like that happen in a place that is known to have high security? >> that's correct. yo

cnn's brooke baldwin is joining us now from beth israel deaconess medical center here in boston. brooke, what do we know about the suspect's health? >> reporter: wolf, we now know from the fbi and folks here at beth israel hospital here in boston that 19-year-old dzhokhar tsarnaev has been upgraded from serious condition now to fair condition. what does that mean? if you listen to our chief medical correspondent sanjay gupta he basically explains that means tsarnaev's vital signs have stabilized. things like heart pressure, blood pressure, and heart rate for example. we know he had an operation on saturday so a couple days out his condition has been improving which obviously is good news. that of course is predicated upon whether or not he decides to continue cooperating with investigators but also that his medical condition clearly helps in gleaning information out of him with regard to what happened last monday. but to quote sanjay gupta he is now officially out of the woods, wolf. >> brooke, you also had a chance today to speak to some veterans who are trying to help some of th
