the district attorney's office did not comment today, but yesterday, da brooke jenkins said she is still deciding whether to request a judge move the case to adult court. my clients certainly should be treated as a juvenile. he is a juvenile. it's very rare for transfer to occur. doctor lisa hill a criminal justice professor at cal state east bay, tells us a transfer from juvenile to adult court depends on the case, including whether the minor has any criminal history. you have a person that committed an egregious offense, and we think because they committed this adult like offense, that they should be tried as an adult. but behavior does not imply that a person is mature enough to be transferred to the adult system. the maximum age for juvenile court is 25 years old. doctor hill told us the judge and probation department would have to consider several factors. the big question is whether or not this person by the expiration of the juvenile court, can, you know, be rehabilitated. that's the big question that the court has. yes. it's a serious offense, but how can we you know, this is a j

district attorney brooke jenkins said she would only seek to move cases out of juvenile court if there were heinous crimes. the attorney for the 17 year old doesn't think that's necessary, even though this case is garnering national attention. >> you know, we're the only reason you're here talking to me is because mr. pearsall is a 40 niner. i mean, let's be honest about that. >> the suspect's parents were there today as well. he is scheduled to be back in court next tuesday. this evening, san francisco mayor london breed spoke for the first time since charges were filed yesterday, as did the police chief. abc seven news reporter j.r stone is following the story and joins us with their reaction. j.r. >> i talked with the mayor and police chief earlier tonight. i asked the chief if there is a belief that this young man was part of a group. he said it's definitely something they are investigating. as for the mayor, she told me the suspect needs to be held accountable for his actions. >> he's very sorry, genuinely, that this did happen, as is his family. >> an apology from the teen suspec
