his destination is brooklyn. mark henry lives in the section of brooklyn. so does ernest, he lives there, as well. henry comes to brooklyn and he gives the guns when he arrives to ernest. he is the guy in brooklyn who we allege who sold these guns to the undercover agent. you see mark henry's a guy down in atlanta who gets the guns and brings them on the plane. but he brings them to this guy ernest who then sells them to our undercover detective. our undercover detective purchased over 100 guns from ernest from his home. and then he literally would come out his house and sell his guns right in front of his house and go back upstairs and enter his house. on 43 occasions right here in brooklyn between may and december of 2014. now, it's also interesting is, we investigated ernest very carefully. and by investigating him, we learned about other folks involved in this conspiracy. one is greatly -- grayline smith. sold guns to him, as well. smith lives in crown heights, and he also lives in snellville, georgia, which is right outside of atlanta. he not only sold

i'm joining you now from dunnbo, one part of brooklyn just on the other end of the brooklyn bridge. if you're just joining us, we started massive peaceful protesters in downtown manhattan right around where the police headquarters are there at city hall and each of your different correspondents have been explaining, each of the groups have been splintering off. it's entirely organic. very organized. there's people with headphones and micaicrmicrophones communicn the crowds, walk with me so we can show them as i'm talking to you, where to go and how. in walking across the entire brooklyn bridge, by the way, we were walking on and sort of still am on the roads, the police had shut it down anticipating that the protesters would want to walk across the bridge. i will say just a few minutes ago because the road was not shut on the manhattan bound side of the bridge, there were a couple of protesters incredibly dangerous to cross across the middle. risk their lives to do so and disrupt traffic on the other side. >> right. >> reporter: another thing we noticed, one of the cars passing alon

he may have had associations with the east flatbush area of br brooklyn.approximately 2:45 this afternoon, baltimore authorities sent a warning flier to the nypd and other agencies. tragically, this was essentially at the same time as our officers were being ambushed and murdered by brinsley. tragically too, this is not the first time this department has seen such violence. seven times since 1972, we have seen partnered murdered together, often in incidents such as this, mindless assassinations without warning. our officers know this from memorial walls on our precincts and headquarters. nevertheless, they do what we expect of them. they grieve. they mourn, but then they go out onto the streets of this city and work to keep it safe every day and every night. we have never and never will forget that mission. we will never forget the two young men who lost their lives today. mr. mayor? >> thank you, commissioner. our city is in mourning. our hearts are heavy. we lost two good men who devoted their lives to protecting all of us. officer ramos, officer lou die

in brooklyn.the african-american public advocate for the whole state of new york is calling for special prosecutors. these are situations where it is very difficult for a prosecutor to turn around and try to put in prison someone they have to work we ever day. the good thing about d.a.s, they're mostly elected. the bad thing is they often have to get the union to give them money and endorsement. that's a conflict of interest. we actually agree that this was a terrible situation for the police to be put, for the officer to be put in. at the same time there is a pattern and a practice now of overaggressive law enforcement when it comes, when you see an african-american. an overaggressive pattern now. that leads to tragedy. we have to back up on. this case in particular we'll see what happens. i think everybody has to take a big stem back. it is hard for me to imagine a little white boy in a park playing with a gun and having an officer making a decision to drive up on him and then have the other off
