i'm brooke baldwin. i want to begin with something we've been talking about for quite a while and it continues to percolate. that being the heat. it is gripping so much of the southern u.s. in just two states, texas and oklahoma, the heat is to blame for 22 deaths, 22. and it is just the 3rd of august. temperatures again today reaching well into the triple digits. in fact, case in point, plano, texas, excessive heat is blamed for the death of a popular high school football coach who collapsed two hours into the team's first practice of the season. the heat index apparently soaring above 100 degrees. >> we were on a second short break and heading to the fieldhouse. he collapsed outside the fieldhouse. >> the heat proving to be fatal in georgia. two high school football players collapsed while out practicings under the sun and the heat. they both later died. if you have kids who say, mom, dad, the coach says i have to practice, i have to be out there, maybe in full pads, i want you to listen to the father

this is the wetstone brook. it was totally placid, a thin creek where children have played for much of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century. this is no longer the wet stone brook. this is the wet stone rapids. the power of irene in vermont has turned brooks and creeks into rapids. looks like what you would see at the grand canyon, at niagara falls. this is an office building with art studios and the power of the water exploded the brook three times what it was before. the building is now about to fall into this brook. we talked to one of the owners inside the building, an artist with an office on the top floor, third window from the right. he wanted to recover his belongings. we advised him that would not be a good idea and five minutes ago we heard a boom. part of the building appears to have collapsed. now in vermont, officials are trying to find out how many people might be missing. we do know one woman is missing and presumed dead when she apparently fell into a brook like this. high tide is expect

this is the wetstone brook but it is no longer a brook. it now resembles the colorado rapids. throughout the state there have been reports of people who have gone missing. at least one person is presumed dead after falling into a brook like this. what happened here is startling. i want you to see over here. this was a narrow brook. now the land has eroded. you can see this blue building is an art studio. there are yoga studios and offices inside. it is about to collapse. the ground underneath eroded because of the water that's gone into the brook. at any time this building could collapse. you may see lights flashing inside. there is an alarm going off. we were talking to someone who has an art studio inside the building. he is terribly sad. he said his office is the fourth window from the right on top. he wanted to go inside to recover his belongings. i advised him not to. this building could collapse at any time. the authorities have just arrived on the scene. this state is not used to hurricanes and tropical storms. last time they had a hurricane here was 1938, 73 years ago.

>> well, you know, brooke, this is the issue.re's beenish rumors for months that the pakistanis were furious about u.s. troops coming into their country that when this helicopter crashed and some of the wreckage left behind, the pakistanis basically said the heck with it, we'll let our chinese friends and have a look at all of this and see what they think, knowing full well that this was some of the most classified u.s. military technology. so the rumors been out there for some time. but there's a new series of newspaper articles emerging. what u.s. officials are telling us is they now have reason to suspect they say. reason to suspect that the chinese indeed were invited by the pakistanis had a look, maybe took a few samples, you know. this stealth technology on this helicopter would be a prize for the chinese. they're very interested in stealth technology. anything that makes a radar signature less visible, it allows someone to fly through enemy airspace without being detected. it's the leading edge of military technology. the

brooke?eard and i took note of the president speaking earlier mentioning the u.n., the next general assembly asking next month's meeting support the specific transition and when it comes to this transition because there are a lot of variables still, how can the united nations help moving forward? >> the u.n. may not be very good at preventing conflict but it does seem to specialize in post conflict discussions, improvements getting a country back on its feet from east timor to sierra leone, liberia, puts personnel in to talk about dearming, demobilizing conflicts, post conflict they're anticipating what occurred in tripoli overnight and basically the u.n. is prepared to go in, the secretary-general is calling a big summit later this week with regional organizations. it certainly is, still challenges ahead, a hopeful situation there but there are risks going forward. the u.n. has to see things stabilize on the ground there and you mentioned the general assembly, brooke. we all remember almost

what's interesting here, brooke is that the yield, what they pay out, felt significantly. just to give you a sense, if you look at a ten-year yield, bond, long-term savings, 2.45%, down significantly in the last two weeks. today you saw the two-year treasury bond, the two-year note fall to a record low. a quarter of at percent returns. this is what's so fascinating. if you look at the demand for quick money, if you look at the demand -- the payoff on a short-term bond on a one-month treasury bill, it was actually negative. means investors were willing to pay the government money to hold their money. that's very interesting. this is called a flight to safety on wall street. people were jumping into whatever they thought was safe, not yielding a lot of money, as investors jumped out of the stock market, as it played out all day on wall street. people were jumping into the government savings bonds. you brought up a good point, how did the blue-chip companies do? the reason you care about these, these are the big companies in your pension plans -- >> a lot of people own apple,
