provide the workspace at the brooks hall in order to be able to accomplish the work. the technical works such as cleaning and move of this saved material will require outside cleaning specialists such as balfor and city-approved movers and the public library is using the balfor company for some of the materials that they're moving out of brooks hall. so we have identified the pieces of the project and we have been talking with john how to move forward on putting the parts into place that his department would be able to handle and that the law library would be able to handle but primarily the skilled workers aspect and the evaluation would be all on the library end of things, it's just that we need additional staffing in order to be able to do that. >> is that it for your presentation? >> i'm assuming that you saw the pages that i sent that i put out in great detail and i could go through this if you like but i was trying to get to the high points of what the purpose is of the proposal. >> okay, sorry. >> may i -- one of the things that i noticed was missing in the pro

that 25,000 boxes are being stored in brooks hall that no one can gain access to. i do know it's difficult to get them back to the second floor, but what is the timeline for plan for getting those over there so other people can access them. >> all of those were stored as part of the bond auction for the 1995 retrofit, and you can see from the pictures some of the conditions there. what has to be done is each of those boxes of books has to be looked at. we know what we have there, but it has to be looked at to determine whether or not the materials are salvageable or damaged, or need to be recycled, etcetera. here so far, the environmental controls were insufficient to do that, but we really want to be able to work with the city to accomplish this. this has been a very difficult period, but this is not something that the library can do without the assistance of the city. i have a reference staff of 4.8 people, so we -- i have recently understood that maybe the library space has been -- materials have been removed. the last time we were there, they were still there,

by the end of next year, we expect the law library to take all the books that are in storage at brooks hall and move it into the second floor of the law library at 1145 market street on the second floor, where there are empty shelves. so by the end of the year. if that doesn't happen, then the department of real estate has the ability to allow other departments to occupy space on the second floor of the law library. i wanted to make the board members aware of the condition we put into the resolution. we have received some information from the law library, which is the first i've seen in many, many years, upon many subsequent budget seasons, so i'm glad we finally have some information and that there may be some progress with having the law library really effectively serve the public. with those amendments, i would recommend that we approve this resolution. >> councillor breed: thank you, supervisor tang, for your work on this particular item, which has been a challenge for each and every one of us. colleagues, seeing no other names, can we take this item same house, same call? without objec
