we're here, but you know, i know my station and i know myself we stand on the shoulders of what brooks jackson have done and upenn, and i thank them so much because it's legitimized it and makes it easier to do and you folks it makes it easier to do in terms of to see the importance to the station. so in terms of resources, it's just a matter of going through your checklist and trying to find just a couple one or two facts that could easily be fact checked like that. >> pat, you were referring to some of what you do as quick strike material. three or four-hour productions. >> it's difficult for us to gather everybody for two days. that's the cost factor again. we used to, when we first began doing this, we had a graphic artist dedicated to this. we don't have that anymore. we used to have a producer on the days we did realty check dedicated to helping research so there would be two of us and then i wouldn't have to be on the air that day. that has gone away. so this is generally, i'm the one who does the research and we have one person who does final cut editing on this. that makes a big diffe

wcco television, we've been doing realty checks since about 1990 thanks to brooks jackson and kathleen hall jamieson. back in 1990, we attended a seminar where this concept was discussed and we thought well, why not do it locally? why should we not do it? we began to do it more and more. there's an ebb and flow to all of this on -- in lean years, we can't do as much and in fat years, we do a little bit more. but we also have a lot of production that we have to do. those are fantastic. it takes a long time to do that. we have to dedicate a lot of people, producers, graphics. we have to take a reporter off, sometimes a producer to do this. so i was very interested to hear in the last panel, kevin, talking about the cost of this. and there is a cost. what we have tended to do just in the last couple of years since 2008 when the bad economy hit everyone, we've had a lot of layoffs and i'm sure many of your stations and companies have had that. and we've begun to compress it and now we're expanding a little bit. as this political year begins, we are now dedicating ourselves to doing a lot m

jackson, a defense attorney on the case with us today and 20 million? i am guessing is he going to get that, no. >> that would be my answer, brooke. there is a suit against the federal government, first of all, it is tough. we heard the expression it is tough to fight city hall. work that is way with the federal government also. although you can sue under limited circumstances and there is something called the federal torts claim act and under that act you can sue and what you first have to do is what he did, that you file a claim against the entity, the dea, drug enforcement administration. they as an agency have six months to evaluate the claim and the reason $20 million there is federal rules require you to put a specific dollar amount. so that sort of is just a starting point. what i do believe since the facts are uncontested and they are egregious is the agency will evaluate it and they already issued an apology. we have a united states senator saying i want an investigation, and i want policies changed and they will probably admit to this and come up with settlement amount and therefore the case will go away and it won't rea
