our scott broom joins us now with more information. scott? >> reporter: this is the recall document storage facility. the rescue effort is going into its 14th hour and of course in brutal heat right now. this all happened last night when a worker, rescuers believe got buried under mountains of shelving and stored documents and roofing materials after an accident inside the billing -- building that caused the roof to collapse. standing with me now is chief mark brady with the ems fire service. i know the building started creaking this morning. you had rescuers and dogs inside. for safety reasons you had to pull them out. what is the plan right now? >> the plan is we brought in structural engineers that arrived early this morning. they met with our firefighters, our collapse rescue teams to come up with the best access to an area where we believe our victim is located. the plan now is we are going to bring in three large cranes that will reach over the back wall of this facility, start to remove a lot of the roofing debris in the shipping area.

scott broom is joining us live from the scene with more information. scott? >> reporter: well, now that we're here at the location, we've learned they weren't actually in the tree. they were down on the ground. despite the signs and the cones and the flagger, a truck blew through the construction area, ran over or hit three workers, two of them were sent to the hospital. let me take you to sky 9. we're at new hampshire avenue. it was just after 10:00 this morning when a box truck went through this work location. and that's when the workers were hit. they were working for mercy a tree contractors, under contract to bge power company. the two injured workers according to co-workers are jose hernando and marvin saravantos. both have been taken to hospitals, one of them to shock trauma. here is how some of the witnesses on the ground saw it as it happened. >> my thought is they drive too fast. even though the workmen are here directing traffic, he just didn't stop. one of the workmen said he thought he was on the cell phone so he probably wasn't paying attention.

our scoot broom is live in upper marlboro with more on the case. scott? >> reporter: well, you'll remember karen toles is a prince george's county council member who pleaded not guilty to reckless driving after police said they saw her going at least 105 miles an hour on the beltway. she came in court today prepared to go to trial on this reckless driving issue. her lawyer argued that they didn't have the evidence. well, here's the evidence. it was dashboard camera video from one officer who picked her up on the beltway. he said he had to go 108 miles an hour. you may be able to see the digital readout on his camera as he chased her off the beltway onto branch avenue. she stopped at a stoplight briefly, then took off again. he had lights and sirens on through all this and she reached upwards of 80 miles an hour going through intersections on branch avenue before she was finally stopped with what ended up with a group of at least five police officers. at one point they admitted in court today they had their guns out because they were concerned it was a sto
