[laughter] so i need to get back to work, and it's great to see you and being able to get back to work with you. let me start off by saying that i am bullish on kansas. [applause] and as i go through some of the things tonight, you're going to see why. we're a state in transition from a high-tax state to a low-tax state. [applause] we're a state struggling to pay our day-to-day bills to a state with a heal

be submissive to all types of different commissions and departments and whatever else is in the brownback, if i was a supervisor, i would be totally outraged as to that type of a process. it is totally unnecessary. even after we come out of a divisive election season, we are going into another crazy election season, not only in census go but in the united states, there is going to be a strange feeling that everybody in the country is moving towards helping the 99% and politics are moving in that direction. somehow, in san francisco, it is crazy that we are moving in the opposite direction and giving the business community more of a kudos than the working men and women who do the work in this city. supervisor kim: i'm going to call up maria, kim, larry, and frank. >> good afternoon. my name is tiffany with young workers united. we are here to oppose this amendment. in the past 15 years, san francisco has been a leader in the country in passing phenomenal legislation to protect workers and preserve worker rights. we are part of making sure that the previous legislation was passed and got on

and irrelevant in this day and age yet it's not clear what result the new strategy will bring or brownback or of the own soko this these new plan would indeed slow down pentagon budget growth one sparrows the misery of continuing conflicts. this is not a step away from war this is not a step towards pacifism or a step towards a retreat from empire building it's actually the use of a military strategy that costs the american political leaders be they obama or whoever takes his place afterwards less on the home front if there are fewer american casualties of all the bleeding is done on the other side of all of the destruction is done by those who are suffering the consequences of air war they feel that there will be less antiwar sentiment at home so it's not a promise in the progressive directions what the obama administration and what the pentagon are doing in it and obama signaled that explicitly in his speech he puts again the primacy of the turn towards asia which really is a turn against china i think they're looking forward to this competition and the evolution of a possible cold war t

give a great ilo welcome to governor sam brownback from the great state of kansas. >> thanks, bobbie. a great state i know it is. you guys are wonderful. this is a great place. being the son of former and rick is, too, don't you love the farmland and? my home farm is about 8 inches deep and his is 6 on their farm. maybe on the gullies, but this is beautiful stuff. great to be in iowa. bobby is a great governor in louisiana and here supporting rick perry, doing a fabulous job. when i first met rick perry, he was running against an incumbent, had commissioner, i got the name of jim hightower, who had a very left wing record. nobody thought he could wind, did they? they were saying, jim hightower is too well known, to well- financed, you not be able winter league did, any move forward in texas politics to produce a state that is on a roll growing jobs in building the economy the way that we need to be on our role in the united states of america. he has done that, he has taken on a machine that pushed back against him and he is doing it again. all washington machine pushing back against t

he was working for sam brownback in 1994. i could not be more proud of him.e stepped forward and talk about the biggest fiscal issue of our time. is medicare. it is medicaid. it is social security. they do not hear enough politicians telling the truth about that. look back have the health system started. when fdr came up with social security. the numbers were pretty good. fdr was a smart guy. he was a democrat, but he was a smart guy. he realized he needed to start social security for americans when they turned 65. by the way, the average life expectancy back then was 62. if you made it to 65, we would start writing you a check. but if you did make it to 65, think about these numbers. there were 40 people working for every one person on social security. today, how many people work for every one person on social security and medicare? three. we of three people working for every one person on social security. by the time baby boomers retire, all of the baby boomers -- the scourge of humanity, by the way. in the 1960's they gave us discover. in the 1970's they g
