fox 29's bruce gordon joins us live from the animal shelter in clayton new jersey, with those great details. bruce? >> reporter: yeah, lucy. we all know that social media specifically facebook can be a distract. it can generate unwanted controversy, but it can also bring people together. people from far and wide to help those in need. by midday thursday the gloucester county animal shelter was stuffed to the breaking point with donated goods that turned minor disaster into a minor miracle. it was 3:30 wednesday afternoon when a drier fire destroyed two machines in the shelter' laundry room. ruining many of the quilts, blankets and towels used to provide warmth and comfort for the dogs and cats here. extinguishing the fire made things even worse. >> all the overspray was sprayed all over our stock of blankets and towels. which caused us to have to throw them away. >> reporter: by 4:15 the shelter was reaching out for help through its facebook page. >> thank you. >> reporter: within minutes animal lovers throughout the region were coming in with donated goods. jessica, saw the post and shared

we asked our bruce gordon to take a look at how and why tragedy like this could happen. he's in the newsroom. bruce? >> reporter: lucy the thought of a young person feeling so did he say straight so helpless that they choose to take their own life is hard to process for most of us much that's exactly what has happened at burlington township high. january 1st new year's day a 15-year-old boy killed himself inside his salem road home. four days later just last night an 18-year-old young man took his own live inside his home on east sixth street. grieve counselors spent this day at the high school trying to help fellow students make sense of what's happened. mental health experts long affiliated with the burlington district say they couldn't remember a student suicide in this district before the twin tragedies of this past week. but they say multiple suicides are not so rare. >> when someone gets to the point where they're making a true attempt at their life and they're young and they're struggling and they see a pier do something it becomes reality reality. it becomes plaus
