training at the san bruno jail wafted onto their campus. nbc bay area's robert honda has the details. the jail facility here in san bruno is tucked away in the hills, but less than half a mile from portola elementary school. plenty of room for students and staff to avoid people and vehicles from here, but not chemical fumes. the tactical training classes at the san bruno jail facility took place on tuesday, may 22nd, and involved testing and handling of numerous chemicals used in, among other things, tear gas and pepper spray. but the fumes apparently drifted onto portola elementary school, sickening at least 20 students and an adult. the sheriff says the drill was called off and emergency crews went to the school to check on the students. some parents, who asked not to be shown, told me their children got violently ill over the next two days. around 24 hours later, woke up in the middle of the night and vomited. and unfortunately, you know, was basically violently vomiting and couldn't hold down liquids for around 12 hours. another parent
