brynn, what do you have for us?just learned from our reporters in the courtroom the judge in the cosby trial has declared a mistrial. that means none of the jurors could come to a consensus on all three counts of the charge of aggravated indecent assault against bill cosby. i want to read some quotes we received from, again, jean casarez and lawrence crook from inside the courtroom. he asked each juror, polled each of them and said does this indicate that the jury is hopelessly deadlocked and the foreperson said yes. the judge again then asked all jurors do you agree there is a hopeless deadlock which cannot be resolved by further deliberations and each juror then again answered in the affirmative. the cosbys' defense, they asked for a motion for mistrial and that was granted. then the judge made this comment to all the jurors. probably one of the more courageous acts, the selfless acts i have ever seen in the justice system. i feel bad for you all. he also said i'm compelled at this stage to grant a motion for mist

was, what was said in the group of 12 because those are secret proceedings and you cannot discuss it brynnthat's what i witnessed firsthand in the courtroom. i watched the jurors come in. we were told there was a deadlock and there would be a declaration of a mistrial. as i watched them come in, i didn't see any emotion on their facep they were are sort of stoic, maybe on the sad side, but stoic. but i saw a male juror, young male juror, as he walked in look straight at andrea constand and it was a very strong look. one of kindness. and then he sat and then once they were all seated i saw a female juror on the end who was one of the closest ones to andrea sitting in the prosecution's side she just looked straight at her. so this was a jury that i think had emotions, they have to have emotions after 52 hours of deliberation, but they also held them inside and the judge made them stand up one by one, asked them a very simple question, he said i just want a yes or a no. were you hopelessly deadlocked in this jury? and each one said yes. yes, your honor. yes. they were quiet. not bold and stro

brynn, stand by. thank you for bringing us this breaking news. paul callan has been following this. you've been very helpful in helping all of us understand the trial and the mash nations as things have been playing out. give me your reaction to this. >> well, i've seen this coming over the last couple of days, kate. it looks to me like you have a holdout juror, a single holdout juror or maybe a small group of holdout jurors, holding it as against the majority, who maybe have come to a different conclusion about guilt or innocence. and what we're hearing now is a report of a deadlocked jury. that's followed by what is traditionally called the dynamite charge, which is given by the judge to the jury, essentially saying, you have an obligation to go back, to deliberate in good faith and to try to reach a decision, because you're better equipped than any other jury will be and you might as well get the job done. so, they take one last shot at getting them to come to an agreement, and then we're likely to see a mistrial if the jury can't reach a conclusion after the dynamite charge. >>
