let's bring in brynn talkington and before brian levitt, brynn a cnbc contributor. welcome to you both. brian, how does all that sound in terms of where we begin this year? i guess the kind of basic case was the economy is in decent shape, the fed is perhaps doing some cutting, earnings are broadening out, and, you know, credit looks great. what else do we need to know? >> i think that all still exists. i think the broad backdrop exists. the challenge we're dealing with now is there is a little bit more policy uncertainty than we were dealing with last year. i liked what liz ann said about this being more like 2018 than being like 2017. think about 2018, there was uncertainty around the fed. they raised rates, they're not going to raise rates this time. how quickly are they going to bring rates down, re-adjusting a little bit as well as the uncertainty around what the trade policy is going to look like. so, i think for investors, what are we down here, 5%, 4% or so, we didn't feel a lot of that last year because there wasn't a lot of policy uncertainty. we have a li

let's get the latest from cnn's brynn gingras. brynn, what are you hearing about what happened? >> yeah, boris. and we don't quite know the condition of those two students just yet. what we're learning from officials that this happened inside the cafeteria of that high school, antioch high school, which is in the metro area of nashville, and two people at least, were shot. again, not clear their condition before the gunman turned that gun on themselves. authorities right now are saying that there is no longer a threat from that gunman, but it's quite unclear right now exactly who that person was, who these victims were at this point. what we know is that that school right now is in lockdown, and we also know that officials inside the school are bringing the students now into the gymnasium to sort of congregate before they can get to sort of the place of reunification with their parents. we know that they will be bused. that's likely why you're seeing all those busses outside the front of that high school. they could be bused to the area where they can actually, you know, reunite

let's get straight to cnn's brynn gingras brennan. what do you know here? >> yeah. >> listen, it's important to note, as you just had that conversation with those guys that, you know, law enforcement at this point is in a heightened alert anyway. >> so they're going to be looking at these incidents that are extremely unusual, like what you're seeing here in las vegas as a possible terrorist act until they can rule that out. so that is what we're learning from law enforcement at this point. but what the details we've learned from the sheriff's department there is that this vehicle fire happened at about 840 this morning outside the trump international hotel in las vegas. it's 2024 cybertruck that pretty much exploded at the valet area of that hotel. we know that there was one person found deceased inside, and it's unclear at this point to law enforcement if that person is a male or female because of the burns so badly. we also know that there were seven people that were also injured. it appears minor injuries at this point because of this incident that happe

. >> cnn's brynn gingras is following all of these developments for us. so bring us up to speed. >> yeah, erica, we're getting those updates from metro police who just gave us a little bit of detail of what happened inside that high school at about 11:00 this morning, local time. they say a 17 year old student, a male, walked into the cafeteria of antioch high school and fired several gunshots with a pistol. two students were hit, one killed. as you guys mentioned. another student right now at the hospital in stable condition. we're told by authorities that that student has a graze wound to her arm. we also know another student has some sort of facial injury, but not a gunshot wound, but also someone who is being treated after this incident. this happened again inside the cafeteria of this school. complete chaos at that time. this is a school of about 2000 students. it's a high school. and guys, i can tell you that this community, it's a pretty traumatic experience no matter what, but especially for this community, because if you remember, it was just in
