form water garden filtering systems, the first of three natural stormwater gardens is here on buena islandl of ten will be on treasure island. water from storms street runoffs from neighborhoods has the possibility to collect toxic materials as it makes its way back into the surrounding bay. this garden has been a model for future natural filtering systems through out the bay area. >> whenever a storm comes through all of the water, you know it lands on the streets it lands on the top of the buildings, and at times it often collects a lot of heavy metals and greases and it needs to be cleaned and before sent back into the back. it goes into the pipes and stormwater drainage and put into our stormwater basin and then all of the plants and soil you're seeing in there, they are acting as a filter for all those oils and heavy metals and greases and all things that's coming off the roadways coming off the development and so it's treated here in the storm water basin and then it's sent out into the bay as a clearer product and cleaner water which increases our water quality here and throughout t

the first two grants are design phase of the yerba buena island multiuse pathway projeblth for amount up to $3 million in federal one bay area grant funds and $1 thousand in state senate bill 1 local partnership funds, or sb1 lpp. $1 thousand is required by the transportation commission to facilitate transfer of lpp cost savings from the environmental phase to the final design phase. the ybi multiuse pathway develop a accessible multiuse pathway connection between the current ybi bike landing and intersection of the treasure island road. the design phase will take approximately 2 years to complete. the third grant for consideration is to support the expansion of the construction phase on the ybi hillcrest road improvement project for $2.6 million in sb1 lpp funds. this grants provides additional funding to the $30 million state infill infrastructure grant awarded to the treasure island development authority, which we are subrecipient to. widen hillcret crest to improve traffic and safety. we anticipate a grant award from caltrans early 2024. the last grant is the state planning and pr
