this is buena vista parks. this is quezar park. this is mount davidson. look out for the rock. this is on telegraph park. this is stern grove. this is a little known park above candle stick. here's my friend jake, standing by a wall. this was rosy play ground. they turned it into a park and it was also restored by wpa. i believe they torn down the house, which was unforgivable and the zoo is wpa. and here's the murals inside the mother's building. the marina sea walls and great aquatic park. the palace of fine arts. we wouldn't have and a little further in, lake merit, this pier. alva rado park and then, some of you my recognize this. the berkeley rose garden. did it have to be this beautiful. finally, i'm going to wrap up. san francisco is rich in the various kinds of arts projects. we have a fabulous collection of stuff here. there were four components. there was visual arts, federal theater, federal musics and federal writers. they employed many people. this is excellent to show the work. the visual arts project. it was especially important in san francisco because of dieggo

this year we increased our daily outreach in golden gate park and in buena vista park from 1 1/2 hours to two hours daily, meaning we are out every single morning from 4:30 to 6:30 with our park patrol, with the san francisco police department and our -- the department of public health to engage our illegal campers and to offer them services and to remind them of adherence -- the importance of adhering to the park code. this year each week we removed three tons of debris from golden gate park. three tons of debris is removed. >> can i ask a question there? is that people dumping things? >> yep. >> as opposed to just wrappers from picnics. >> it is shopping carts, it can be mattresses, it can be, you know, clothing, it can be, you know, we are challenged by people dumping things in our parks and this just shows how regular and persistent of a challenge that is. and actually how much debris we're actually removing. one of the most important keys to keeping our parks safe is act vasting our park spaces -- activating our park spaces. we've brought fun experiences to our parks and plazas, i

park. we conducted a community meeting at the randsle museum, did outreach to supervisor's office, several neighborhood groups, including the buena vista neighborhoods at corona heights neighborhood association, week of done up to date, about 24 hours of direct outreach to park users. so with that introduction, let me just turn it over briefly to kathy to explain the event. thank you. >> i'm the founder and executive director of volunteers for outdoor california. we conduct largescale weekend-long volunteer stewardship programs -- projects on public spaces throughout northern california, primarily the greater bay area. many of our projects are much more remote than corona heights park. but we have a commitment to urban parks as well and in recognition of that commitment, we've made a commitment to work with san francisco rec and parks each year. this will be our third project with san francisco rec and parks. we've previously done a project at glen park. last year we did a project at mcclarne park. so this will be our third partnership with san francisco rec and parks. each in the prior -- of the prior experiences has been tremendous.
