deputies spotted a buick with stolen license plates. they stopped the car on the transition ramp. the driver ran, but they caught him. investigators say a passenger in the back seat jumped up into the front seat and tried to drive away. >> at that point, the deputies started to struggle with the driver who was also moving the car down the roadway. and a third deputy fired, striking the driver who was taken to the medical center. >> a woman in the car was also held for questioning. the investigation stopped traffic on the ramp for several hours. >> this doesn't happen very often. a man arrested on drunk driving charges not once but twice in one day. the highway patrol says 71-year- old gary was seen driving erratically early yesterday morning. he was arrested and booked into the county jail at about 3:00 a.m. then at about 2:45 that afternoon, police received a report of a drunk driver on highway 37. they located the car and once again arrested gary for a second time. >>> union members this morning began a 7-day strike at five east bay hospitals affiliateedwith sutter health system
