steve bullock and wayne nessam and seth moulton. they have interesting positions.have slightly different things than you hear from the rest of the field. is there a feeling that the dnc rules are too capricious, is there push back? >> it was completely within their control to get into the race. you're talking about 1% in polls, 65,000 unique donors. it doesn't prevent them from running. if they want to be on the next debate stage they have to meet that threshold. they have notice now on what the threshold is. it's higher than the current threshold but it doesn't prevent them from going on television, giving speeches, campaigning. the way the format works, you're looking at maybe ten minutes per candidate anyway. if you are hovering around 2 or 3% i'm not sure ten minutes on the stage will be your breakout moment. the dnc thought they had to draw a line. >> maybe your only break. that's the problem. i want to talk about democratic socialism. let's play bernie sanders. he gave a big speech that he wanted reporters in the country to hear in defense of his political ph

i want to start with you, as we listened to governor bullock -- is this process aligned and a way to with the best candidate to run against president trump? >> i think the process is fine. and as he said, he just got into the race a couple of weeks ago and he may actually benefit. onle the debate takes place nbc and affiliates, he may be able to go to the other networks and do some sort of town hall or meeting that get some attention. it is not a complete loss, and it is the challenge of having so many candidates. frankly, the 20 candidates on stage will have a hard time distinguishing themselves and most of the attention will fall on the three or four frontrunners, and the other candidates will struggle to get a word or two in. it will be a challenge no matter what. question, whost gets to appear, and who appears with whom? the new york times is reporting will beala harris joining vice president biden and bernie sanders. how are they deciding? >> that is part of the challenge. no matter what they decide, people will say it is not fair. part of the promise was that they would not do
