eight burglaries in one day. police in palo alto are investigating a string of home burglaries that happened on friday. the thieves stole jewelry and electronics. in many cases police say the burglars rang the doorbell to see if anybody's home. nobody and he. they broke in through a back door. >> the burglers aren't interested in confrontation or having witnesses to their crime. if they know someone is home, they will move on to the next house more than likely. >> investigators are looking to see if there are links to other burglaries in town. >>> police say a statewide fraud spree came to an end in walnut creek this weekend. three men from southern california are now accused of using fraudulent credit cards to buy gift cards at nordstrom stores all over california. officers arrested the trio after finding more than $10,000 worth of the bogus cards in their van. >>> an apology from death row. one of the "spead freak" killers says he is sorry for waiting so long to reveal where he buried two of his victims. the re

. >> two burglaries -- burglars, very apparent. breaks in and ransacks them, two blocks from our house and we're all very concerned. are we going to be next. >> reporter: but the burglary was different. the suspect entered through a second floor window. he was armed with a revolver and he was willing to use it. >> the homeowner tells us that he claim home late and found a burglar inside the house. that burglar forced him at gun point and shot him as he deincidented the stairs. -- descended the stairs. >> reporter: even though the bullet entered the back of the man's neck and exited through his face, he was still able to dial 911. a few hours later officers spotted bradford steven holup, dressed in camouflage as he jumped in a car a few blocks away and they arrested him. police can't slay if holup is responsible for any of the other burglaries. neighbors are beefing up security, unwilling to take any chances. >> it was disturbing to say the least. i have a 21-year-old and 23-year-old who are out that time of the night and come home.
