and when burke 1700s. and in fact the whole first chapter of the conservative mind is devoted, edmund burke and this idea that basically you should have classes and orders society, that people should know their place in society, and that society will remain stable and safe and thus optimal for everybody if that, you know, if if that continues, if it's if it's kept that way and and it wasn't so much in kirk's book as, it was the whole kind of little mini industry. it spun off. but a number of people around, kirk started arguing very specific, that if american middle class got too large, now keep mind in 1951, the american middle class heading for half of us. it was in the 40% of us. we're in the middle class at the time. at the time that franklin roosevelt was elected president in 1933, about percent of americans were in the middle class. using my definition of my dad's life. right. and and you'll find that number and numerous sources. and so what fdr said was, you know, let's do what adam smith was talking
