with the wind creating that feels like temperature, these are the current windchills right now, burlington vermont, minus 36. minus 43 in portland. providence, rhode island minus 32. even new york feeling like minus 15. and yes up on mount washington, minus 107. so we're only about a degree off from that record you spoke about just a few minutes ago. this is a live look at mount washington. again, still pretty dark there, but all you really see is the camera shaking from the wind and a lot of snow on the ground there for quite some time. unit no wa mounts washington at minus 108. frenchville airport in maine topping out at minus 61. even waterford, vermont getting to minus 52. and the extreme temperatures are just that, extreme. a once in a generation event. and it is thanks to the polar vortex. under normal circumstances the polar vortex is pretty stable and keeps all of that extremely cold air trapped up by the north pole. but when you start getting disturbances in the jet stream that allows the cold air to pull back pretty farther south way farther south than it normally would be, and t

burlington, watertown, but boston, bangor, maine, you're seeing the winter alerts. we saw temperatures get down to ten below zero in boston today. that broke record. we saw wind chills down to 39 below zero in boston. that also broke a record. and this is staggering. i think it's so hard to get your head around this, but mount washington got a windchill today of minus 108. that broke a record for the u.s.. so the coldest wind chill ever recorded in the u.s., and we are going to continue to see this arctic plunge continuing where you see that jet stream. that is deep so far to the south. it's really just allowing this cold air to come, in and we're looking at temperatures still really frigid, but again, better than where we were overnight. we broke a lot of overnight records. six degrees right now in boston, 13 degrees is what it feels like below zero. two degrees in binghamton, and lindsey, we're looking at 17 buffalo. by tomorrow, a huge swing. moving into the 30s and 40s in those spots, in the mid-atlantic and northeast. those spots, i n th mid-atlantic and northe

minus 27 for what it feels like right now in burlington. 5 below for what it feels like in detroit, andindchills as low as minus 24 and northern parts of michigan. again, that cold arctic air has settled in place. this is going to be something that we deal with for not just today but as we get into tomorrow. really the worst sets in for parts of the northeast. we'll likely see record lows being broken tomorrow. we have the potential in places like boston, at jfk airport, laguardia airport, in parts of new hampshire to see these record lows in places like boston were set back in the 1800s, those could be broken, and you see why. minus 30 is what it's going to feel like as you get up and out the door, or if you're taking my recommendation, just stay in bed in boston tomorrow morning because it's going to be bitter cold. in other places across pennsylvania, subzero windchill is going to be really the norm. through the day today, temperatures have already peaked. we saw the warmest of what we're going to see, and now we're going to start to see those temperatures bottom out into early tomor
