in burma, no one's online.is like 11% cell phone usage. >> that's actually quite an optimistic percentage. what we ended up doing in order to get reach was we were very interested that the young correspondents who we trained had very little online experience. that was not where they were at. but where they were really strong was in radio. because radio is how burma gets its news spop . so we ended up working with a southeast asian correspondent to train them how to go so much further with their sort of rip and read wire copy and said what if you went out into the areas of the delta where cyclone nargus did such devastation. look at how that area's been forgotten. they did it with the live sounds of the delta. and this broadcast on radio free asia so it went out to all of these 8 million listeners a day in burma, which is amazing. right? so what's interesting to me in burma is they are nowhere near where many other countries are, even emerging democracies in terms of web connection. it is going to have to come f
