for more, we are joined by lizzie burton. walk us through the details. lizzie: the bank of england kept interest rates at 0.1 percent. that is what was expected. markets hardly moved. but what was a surprise was the warning on inflation. the bank now sees price growth spiking above 4%, twice the bank target, even if it is only temporarily. as a result, the bank says it is going to have to do some modest tightening in due course, and we even had a glance at what that might look like. previously, the bank said it would wait until key rate was 1.5%. now it's a 0.5%, so a lot sooner. at the other end of the spectrum, the bank said it is going to be ready to use negative interest rates if required. so overall, it seems like the bank of england is much more confident in the u.k.'s economic recovery from the pandemic than it was even a few months ago, when it was really warning about the potential scarring to the labor market. it is the be away -- the boe getting in line with this global hawkish shift. the bank of england is following the global pattern here. g
