we have .95 inches reported at bwi marshall since this system started dumping rain on us. just right after midnight or so, across parts of the area. what you're seeing here is the warm air out ahead of this front. the front is the distinguishing line between the warm and the cold air. and then there are several different areas of low pressure that are kind of spinning all of that air and bringing it auth. -- altogether. and this is the system that has brought the severe weather toward parts of the midwest, parts of the ohio valley and parts of kentucky and even missouri. and of course, up at the top there, those are blizzard-like conditions up near minneapolis and toward the dakotas. what we have here, temperatures are going to reflect this system moving on through. you can basically see the difference in the type of precipitation. rain down towards us. we have snow to the northern edge of us. all of that warmer air and all of that mixing toward the midwest. we'll continue to keep you posted. of course, we are not expecting anything we have here. >> tim, thank you. we'll s

i think we had a great valentine's day, a mild one for sure. 55 degrees today at bwi marshall, 56 at the inner harbor. the storm system tracking through the region, having much -- having a hard time producing much in the way of precipitation. we are 10 or 11 degrees above the normal of 45. the warmest on record was 70 in 1990. there were four inches of snow on valentine's day in 1986. no measurable precipitation in our area yet, but it is rating at bwi marshall and it is 56 degrees there right now. 40's to the north and west of us. that is where you have to go to find the winter weather associated with today's weather system. there has been some snow tracking through this area of the mid atlantic and will continue to push to the north and east toward new england tonight. just a few sprinkles of rain early tonight and then these guys will begin to clear up toward morning. you can see that on the futurecast. in the western maryland mountains, snow is passed much to the north and west and some of that may linger into tomorrow morning. around here, we should see skies turn partly cloudy
