. >> that facility known as byrne manor was destroyed overnight by a fire.t fire tore through the building on long southern avenue in oxon hill and that is where we find sarah simmons with details. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. the fire is out at the point but, as you can see, the smoke is still billowing from this building. investigators are out hear on the scene. we have seen canines out here as well. the cause of the fire is still under investigation. the fire started at about 2:00 this morning. if you take a look at the video, you can seat flames and how this building was fullien gulfed this morning. now, i spoke with the manager of the knights of columbus hall here would said there was a party, an event, a community event here saturday night but there was not anything that would have been going on here sunday or even last night. now, as you know, this is a well-known building in the community. a lot of parties and a lot of events do occur here. but the hall did have its challenges as well. back in april, a sheriff's deputy was severely injure
