byrnes last february i was tempted to say no because i did not know much about byrnes. not much had been written about relationship between roosevelt and byrnes. but i cannot pass up this opportunity to speak in this chamber and to be introduced by justice breyer. i have to confess i have had regrets. sometimes panic about accepting this honor. i drove my wife crazy. she was afraid to come tonight. when i left the house she said break a leg and i do not think she met that metaphorically.
