byron york joins us now. nothing profound about what charlamagne said, this is basic politics.t, make your case to the american people, why is it so hard? >> he does interviews, too, do one with him. i think that vice president harris is staying away from the press for a couple reasons. one, she's really not a very good extemporaneous speaker, we've all seen that. that would give her a lot of opportunities to make trouble for herself. the other reason, the press is doing her work for her right now, portraying her as centrist and moving to the center. and harris not saying anything about that. she's getting that done for her without doing an interview or a press conference, which i think would be better. there is a huge internal debate about who to do the interview with, only a few days left. we should focus, this is one interview, she should be doing interviews and press conferences with groups of reporters and offering daily access to reporters traveling with her. she is not doing that. >> lawrence: doesn't she risk waiting too long and making a cat caa stroph ic mistake? >> e

joining us now, fox news contributor byron york. byron, always great to have you on.n. rfk's running mate, nicole shanahan, hinting on twitter that rfk will endorse trump. how will this affect the race if he drops out and endorses trump? >> well, it'll be good for trump. we don't know how much though. now, if you look at the trajectory of rfk's candidacy, back in march look at real clear politics' average of polls, he was about 14 percent. now he's below 5, 4.6% in the average. so he has really gone way down. so the question is, if he gets out of the race, where do those 4.6% of voters go? do more of them go to trump than to kamala harris? there are some indications that that's probably what would happen because the people who are still with rfk after all those people left over the last but months, people who are still with him are pretty much anti-biden, and i think they're anti-harris. now, it's just not that big a margin, but you have to remember this could be settled, this entire election could be decided by a very small margin. elizabeth: yeah, as it has been. yo

. >> sandra: let's bring in byron york from "the washington examiner" and fox news contributor. on the front page of the associated press right now in response to that interview is the headline the interview, kamala harris inaugural sit-down was most notable for seeming: . ordinary. the first sentence reads after avoiding an interview for the first month her first one thursday was notable mostly in how routine it seemed. perhaps that was their goal. what was your thought? >> well, my sense was that she got through it. there weren't any giant gaffes or anything like that. but i tried to look at it in terms of the issues that american voters say are most important to them, that is inflation and immigration and abortion. on inflation, she offered 0 explanation of what happened during the biden-harris presidency. all she did was say she was proud that they brought inflation down under 3% when, in fact, that's higher than it was when they started and she offered few solutions except some sort of action on gouging and to give americans money with which to pay higher prices. she called
