i believe c-span is extremely fair. think they have more liberal -- no, it is all from your own point of view, but i think that c-span makes great attempts to be fair. in the people that you bring on, and the topics discussed. concerning williams, i watch fox -- i am a conservative. i used to be liberal. but i love the diverse points of view. when i listen to juan, i do not agree with him, but i think he is a man of integrity. the problem that i have, and reason that i think that funding should be taken away is the hypocrisy of npr. i listened and i believe that they are extremely slanted. there was a common some years ago -- of which i'm sure that you are well aware -- host: yes, from the 1980's when she was talking about the north carolina senator helms. caller: it is our opinion, but if you're going to fire williams over an opinion far less damaging than her comment, to me that screams hypocrisy. want one penny of my tax dollars going to them. i hope that they do survive, it and that there will still be diverse point

thank you, c-span, and god bless you. host: we need to go back to hand-counting votes, he argues. guest: i think unfortunately, in a place like los angeles county, they might have as many as 250 contests in the county and it is in one election. it is probably not realistic in most places in at the united states to hand-count those ballots if we want accurate results in a timely manner. what i do think that we can do is, you know, we have these machines now, and in much of the country, as i said, we have ballots that are either filled out by the voter or a paper trail, we can check this offer totals. so that if there are suspicions that for whatever reason the software is inaccurate, we have this paper record, and we can hand-counts of percentage of them. there are all kinds of formulas out there that statisticians have been together where we can have extreme confidence of the software is giving us accurate totals. so i do not think that we have to throw up our hands and say there is no way that we can know if these electronic machines are giving is accurate results. host: earlier,
