. >>> ivan cabrera with the forecast. >> today we're in pretty good shape and getting more respect for the tropical storms. you don't need a hurricane to really cause significant damage or a multimillion-dollar disaster, just from the storm surge and water alone. sometimes you don't even need a name as we had last august. quiet now. talking about the tropics in a second. mid and upper 70s. plant city 73. 71 brooksville. we morning. we will crank up the heat today with low 90s, it will feel a little warmer but we rack enough moisture to produce -- lack enough moisture to produce showers and storms. still limited today south of hillsborough, south of polk county. those are the areas 10% to 20% coverage as far as any activity this afternoon. otherwise most of us staying dry. to the north, really dry. can't do much across most of the southeast with the dry air on top of us limiting rain chances. a few specks down towards sarasota, manatee county and down towards hardee and desoto. that is our 10% for today, otherwise mostly dry and sunny. the tropics quiet in the gulf, quiet in the western

fresh update from ivan cabrera. >> yeah. you are wondering what's going to happen with the storm today. yesterday was the heavy rain part of the storm, right? today we're supposed to have a little more heavy rain spread between two days. it all kind of mostly fell yesterday. today was always going to be the windy day. that will happen at 5:00 hurricane hunter $not find hurricane force winds here. -- hurricane hunters did not find hurricane force winds. that's wind shear wrapping around and that is good news. we hope that continues and makes landfall in the panhandle tonight and early tomorrow as it is a minimal hurricane approaching the coast later today. that would, of course, produce the biggest storm surge right for us, we are looking at coastal flooding today. it won't be as significant as it will be to the north. still looking at tropical storm warnings. that means winds 40, 45 miles per hour. another thing we'll do today is not just with the winds but we have the tornadic threat that will be with us throughout the day
