we saw a big demand for new stock today from casino caesars entertainment. the company runs the caesar's harrah's and horseshoe brand casinos in the u.s. the stock priced at $9 dollars per share, under the ticker c-z- r. it closed tonight over $15, clocking a first day gain of over 70%. some analysts note the small number of shares sold help support demand for the stock today. and finally, two semiconductor makers have ended four years of and that's tonight's "market focus." >> tom: selling loads of iphones certainly helped drive more customers to sprint, but it didn't lead to profits. sprint continued to lose money in the fourth quarter, although a little less money than feared. sprint lost 35 cents per share last quarter even as revenues were up 5%. the iphone has been a runaway success for apple and has driven up sales at any wireless carrier selling the smartphone, but it comes at a cost for the carriers. sprint sold 1.8 million of these in the last three months of the year, and 40% of those buying one were new sprint customers. pretty impressive numbers

caesars doesn't. >> david, it's karen. me wonder why would you do this if you have an overhang that's out there and yet you want public valuation. but you're going to get one with what might be a depressed level given it's only $18 million or so and you have so much stock waiting to come out. >> that's right. but as we all know, at certain times in every equity's life there will be up moments. there could be some news suggested on online gaming. something of that nature to get the shares moving a little bit. and then they could build some momentum short-term. and then unfortunately we could see some of that overhang come to fruition. >> speaking of overhang, talk about the balance sheet of these guys. where are these guys in net debt? because this entire sector was so -- basically weighted down so they couldn't grow. just the reality of their servicing costs. >> yeah. they're in a tough position there. they're at ten times debt far more than other companies on coverage. a lot of guys have been reducing that debt load own t

caesars is back. they own harrahs and caesars and other casinos. >> i just wonder with all of the ipos is that going to put pressure on performance? >> i'm not sure that it is not that overwhelming. >> we were bemoaning the decline in volume and i said perhaps we're heading towards a new normal. i was wrong. we're heading back to the old normal. bear with me in a moment. we had a spike during the crisis. it peeked in '08 and it has been coming down since that time. how it goes back to the 0s. more telling is the nasdaq volume going back 20 years. it tint start really building until the bubble burst. then we had 9/11 and the financial crisis. >> we are going back to normal levels. >> maybe. there is also a debate that is being talked about right now on financial reform. we had a press conference from the treasury secretary where we didn't learn anything. so i don't know where we had a press conference. we are getting close to that date. >> i would say that is a partial factor. with all of that said. >>
