s caesar chavez is. leyland avenue is next and though the next mayor will take the credit 19th avenue is next and that is long overview. this is what this represents. we told these ideas from all across the country. portland was doing some of this. but we don't like being second place to portland. so, eat your heart out, portland. we took a little bit from bloomberg in new york and that was the idea of payment to park land but we don't like to be second place, we are now doing more on that and we took the ideas from chicago. and i will say if there is any father or mother of these ideas it is mayor daley in chicago who is on these things years and years ago. i went out there when i first became mayor, got so jealous going down michigan avenue i said we have to do something so we stole their greening director and brought her out here and tasked here with putting these plans together and i want to specifically acknowledge astrid and her hard work and collaborative effort with all of you as well. i'm excite

what come to mind is a project i worked on at caesar chavez and gererroro. this house was delomolished. it was concrete and now it's a dumping ground. because in the absence of any plantings it as a freeway connecter came tire land and encampment and the cattate a rat and -- it built. so we pulled it down and planted it. getting resources in the neighborhood. there was a little old lady across the street that lived there forever. when she sees anybody out there doing something she yells at them. we passed the plate around and got a hose and sprayer. she waters and when she's on vacation she talks to her neighbors on either side. it's not rocket science. i encourage to you walk around your neighborhood and look at where there is too much concrete. there are a lot of ridiculous concrete things that are crying out for something. you know planters or garden spaces. those are the things that make neighborhoods liveable and the process of doing something with them also what makes neighborhoods liveable. go ahead. >> well, i would, the question is, where do you sta

for this opportunity to make public comment, my name is mary anna ferris, ferris, i live at 3631 caesar chavez next to the proposed st. luke's hospital site. i am here representing a coalition of neighbors and neighborhood groups surrounding the hospital association, i represent lost flock, tiffany neighbors and the san jose guerrero coalition to save our streets. many of the families in our coalition live adjacent to the hospital campus and along the proposed truck routes that winds its way through our residential streets. all of our lives will be impacted both during construction and after the building is finished. we stand together before you to make our public comment. we are concerned with the accuracy of the alternatives analysis and several of the impact analyses, including traffic, noise, and air quality. we are particularly concerned, because there are very young, elderly, and infirm residents who live in the buildings bordering the proposed construction sites, truck routes and in the immediate neighborhood surrounding both. as a group, we are actively engaged in a productive dialogue
