caitlin collins joins us from montgomery, alabama. the president did not have to weigh in on this. we were wondering when he would. this is not even a guy he endorsed. he endorsed his opponent and now he is fully, clearly behind roy moore. >> yeah, he broke with republican leadership here, poppy by voicing his support for roy moore. this contentious candidate in this senate race when yesterday he was leaving the white house for his vacation in palm beach. he not only criticized doug jones his democratic opponent in this race. he seemed to accept roy moore's denials of the many, many sexual assault allegations made against him. listen to what the president had to say. >> we don't need a liberal person in there. a democrat jones. i looked at his record. it's terrible on crime, terrible on the border and terrible in the military. >> mr. president, is an accused child molester better than a democrat? is an accused child molester -- >> look, he denies it. if you look at what is really going on and you look at all the things that have happened over the last 48 hours, he totally denies it

collins from maine is vast within the republican congress. >> it looks like -- at least at this particular case, caitlin, the republicans learned a lesson from failure to repeal and replace obamacare. remember when the house passed that legislation repealing and replacing obamacare, there was a huge celebration with the president, the rose garden, and they were thrilled, it was great, in the end, it didn't work out for them. are they learning the lessons of that? >> no, and the president called that bill mean after he delayed his vacation to new jersey, and to hold that little pep rally in the rose garden. real quick to add about the deficit. today at the beginning of the press briefing, sarah sanders said that this tax bill was needed to grow the economy. but when she was later asked about the deficit and what they're going to do about that, if it the economy doesn't cover it, she said that they don't expect that to be a problem because the economy has been growing in the last ten months. it's been growing for longer than that, but she was referencing trump's time in office. i don't know how you square that circle, if it's growing you need
