we're joining you live from cal state east bay with more. christy?>> this comes after months of bargaining the two sides have been trying to work out a new contract since june. they've not been able to reach an agreement. we had a chance to speak with the head of the california faculty association east bay chapter. he says as far as he's aware, the strike is going to happen. adding that faculty members do not want to strike. he said they're compelled to get the attention and create disruption needed to make progress in the proposals. the strike is between the teachers union and csu. individuals are not part of the contract talks. the california faculty association represents about 29,000 professors, lecturers, librarians and counsellors and others. they're seeking about a 12% salary increase, improved working conditions among other issues. the csa says that they had no choice but to strike. there was a 5% raise each year for three years. >> we're not asking for a extraordinary amount. we're simply asking to keep pace with current inflationary trends.
