yesterday afternoon when police responded to a report of a stolen pickup truck on gamble court near cal state east bay. the owner of the truck told police he saw the suspect steal his truck, so he followed that suspect and then called police. when officers arrived they saw the suspect driving away in the man's truck and then he crashed into several parked cars on the street. police say at one point the suspect appeared to be driving towards them and that's when they opened fire. the suspect was not struck by gunfire though. police were able to apprehend him and he's now in police custody. >>> we're learning more details about a deadly police shooting yesterday in santa rosa. a resident of the home on west steel lane called 911 just before 6:00 in the morning to report someone at the house was, "acting crazy and was causing a disturbance." police said the suspect was armed with a 12-inch kitchen knife. the man was found in one of the bedrooms under a bed. officers tried to talk to the man for several minutes to deescalate the situation. then they used a taser on him, but apparently it had no a

so students at cal state, channel island with their professor jose alamio, decided to collect their own objects and display them along side. they decided to actually create panels about their own local oral history and displayed it alongside the national museum's, which was fantastic. we were also fortunate enough -- you can't really see it in the back there, there's bunk beds. there's bunk beds that we collected from a site, an old site where braceros actually lived, a camp. and when i saw it, i thought, "this is fantastic." we had a hat donated by a man who really wanted to honor his dad, and he really wanted to tell his father's story and he really wanted his father's hat to be preserved, and we happily took it. you can't see it but it is right there. that original card that you saw, that was my uncle's, made its way there too because i thought, how can i ask other people to donate their objects if i don't push my own family to donate their objects. so we'll talk a little bit now about what the actual process of becoming a bracero looked like. okay. p imagine, let's think about the c

kids from cal-state long beach also decided to collect their own histories. and it was a gigantic wave of collection all over the u.s. and people contributing to this project. we collected a little over 800 oral histories. making it one of the up larger repositories of latino history. so that was fantastic, but the second thing we did is we digitized people's documents. people, students, undergrads stood there and scanned i.d.s, photographs, anything that people would bring in, they scanned to make sure it was preserved and made its way to the archive. so what you find is that the archive has oral histories and it has digitized documents. but the other fantastic thing that came out of it is that the museum, the national museum of american history, created a traveling exhibit. bittersweet harvest. and bittersweet harvest was a modest exhibit that got a lot of attention and got a lot of attention because many people who came from these communities or were impacted by these communities really wanted to host this exhibit. so i will show you what the page looks li
