temperatures in the high 90s, this fire so far has burned more than 200 acres according to calfire of grass since it broke out a little more than an hour ago. >> you saw one helicopter there moments ago dropping water on to that fire or fire retardant on to that fire. you also can see, well we could see it a moment ago on the bottom of the screen there was an orange industrial next to the burned out area. that is fire retardant that has been dropped to try and stop the fire from growing. presumably it is now over 200 acres. that figure we were first given at about 5:30 and it is now 6:15. so that was 45 minutes ago and the fire is continuing to spread. they are bringing in more manpower as we speak. more firefighters, more bulldozers, more helicopters. there are already two helicopters working the scene. as we get more information we bring it to you. at this point that fire is still out of control. >> and as you can see one more point about the fire -- >> so what came first the chicken or the town? here in san juan batista people are split whether chickens are a asset or nuisance. >>>

calfire reminds people you need use them in the area where you bought them. you take them to a city like oakland and the whole thing becomes illegal. this is one of the fire stations here in oakland where they have collection bins set up for people to turn in fireworks. police and fire will be patrolling looking for illegal fireworks around the city. we have video of someone shooting fireworks toward a b.a.r.t. train, something you don't want to do. it's not just potentially dangerous but people caught with fireworks can be fined up to $1,000, large quantities can get you jail time and fines up to 5 to $10,000. of course there's also the issue of fireworks safety. it can start fires. fire danger very high this year. it's going to be hot and humid. it can burn hands and legs. in some places you can use the safe and sane ones, san mateo and santa cruz counties, safe and sane fireworks are okay. in capitola and watsonville, pacifica and san bruno, and alameda county they can be used at ala me ta creek park, emerald glenn park, also in certain places in union cit
