it normally serves as a hub for a large calfire aircrafts responding to wildfires all across the state. but for this weekend, it became home base for the us air force reserve. the 53rd reconnaissance weather squadron, aka the hurricane hunters. let's show you what we saw. we wrote along on their fifth and final flight of hurricane hillary and overnight exploration proving the storm was weakening and i to cross the eye of the storm. however, many times the national hurricane center tells us to each time we cross the eye, that's called a fix. and for our trip, we were expected to complete two fixes. the only problem, the storm was breaking apart and it was losing steam pretty quickly, so it lost its eye shape. so the hurricane hunters actually had a hard time finding the center of the storm. i had a chance to talk to one of the aircraft pilots, a young man from florida, who says growing up in a state full of storms, full of hurricanes, this job seemed perfect for him. i mean, we're making a great impact to all the coastal areas. and so what we do is we're providing information that reall
