finally, i'll just mention that the california building officials association came out with a rather strong opposition earlier this month to an assembly bill, 2681, that would call for a required inventory of vulnerable buildings, that every jurisdiction in the state has to produce. san francisco is already ahead of this in many ways, because of the community action plan for seismic safety, because we do have a long-term plan we're currently implementing, but the way the state legislation is worded, we would probably have to reduplicate that work and actually spend a lot of money to come up with the kinds of inventory data that this state law seems to require. so we have sent letters to the mayor's office dealing with our state lobbying organization and requested that they try and persuade the governor not to go forward and sign this particular bill until it is amended. i don't have any immediate update on whether that bill has yet been put in front of the governor, as you know, he's been rather busy with the climate action summit that was held here in the city just last week. so i do

and now the california voting officials are the pioneers of this open source voting and realize switching to a new election technology takes time. it's not necessarily complicated to build out the system. there's precedent in new hampshire, but if we're going to do it right, obviously, we have to garner the political will that's taken about ten years, and now we're glad to see linda jerrell and the department of technology step in and we can hopefully get started. this year's civil grand jury called me in to discuss the kava discuss, and the new grand jury accepted the answer i presented, and i had some corrections to the report. it seemed to be basically founded in the slalom report, and i've gone on record in front of the election commission to say that the slalom report was erroneous in a lot of ways. it is great news that we look like we're moving toward a general public license open source system now, and we recognize there's been two failed projects, one in travis county, texas, and one in los angeles, and with the department of technology now involved, we think we're going to avoid those pit falls. thank you very much for your issue in this and carrying it forwar

(pam) school officials reported the alleged crimes to police. rob fladeboe has the story.. san jose police were on campus here at independence high school on friday as the investigation continues into the arrest of the school's head volleyball coach, who is no longer on the job.this is the booking photo of 24 year old peter samante, who is accused of inappropriately touching three male students. the boys were 15 and 16 years old. police say the alleged crimes took place between january 2017 and octoberof 2018. police confirmed all three boys are on the volleyball team. off camera, students expressed disblief, one told me the coach was "popular and polite to a fault." independence high is a big school. many of the parents i spoke with were unaware of the arrest but a few are shocked and concerned. parent".....it's not good for the children and not good for the school to have a coach like that...."parent"....it's hard because i have two sons at this school and i worry a little bit about it but it's very good
