before the start of the camp fire, according to a report the utility sent to the california public utilities commission. the report was sent thursday to the commission by meredith allen, senior director of regulatory relations. pg&e officials also said that thursday afternoon a pg&e crew on aerial patrol saw damage to a transmission tower on the transmission line that had the outage thursday morning about 15 minutes before the camp fire is said to have started. the line is located about one mile northeast of the town of pulga, which is close to the origin of the camp fire. allen said in the report that this information is preliminary. pg&e officials issued a statement friday afternoon. "nothing is more important than the safety of our customers, employees, contractors and the communities we serve, the statement said. "the cause of the camp fire has not yet been determined. pg&e has provided an initial electric incint report to the safety and enforcement division of the california public utilities commission (cpuc). pg&e will fully cooperate with any investigations."
