how about calistoga? we're watching that last night as the snow is beginning to drop their 9 inches of snow totals or 6 inches in cloverdale. and we had 3 inches of snow in orinda. how about canfield? an inch and a half of snow there and all around. we have reports of snow falling even down below 80500 feet or so around the bay area and many other places just didn't stick. but here we're left with a beautiful evening outside. some snow capped mountains remaining here in the bay area. if you want to check that out, well, it's just a afternoon out there as that cold air is still rotating, instill chance of some more snow showers are still seeing a few out there right now. but the focus now driving further south los angeles, southern california. really going to get pounded probably worse than the bay area from the storm system. heavy rain, maybe some flooding there. of course, they've got some blizzard warnings up across the to have to appease and guess what? i-5 close to the grapevine did all that snow. all

on the floor of napa valley and number of towns, most notably calistoga and surrounding hills dealt with a series of power outages. it went off last night about about three times, actually, and then about two o'clock. it's been off since then. but the many folks who have homes above the napa valley floor had to contend with something more than just the occasional power outage. that was lots of snow. as a result, the napa county office of emergency services issued a shelter in place advisory. like most area residents, napa folk are not used to local driving on what can be extremely slippery. still. or the underlying ice have since issued an update, and basically, we want people to be cautious because of the recent weather and the impact on the road specifically in the unincorporated parts of the county, especially west of highway 29, east of silverado trail county lacks any significant snow plow capabilities. quite a few roads in the higher elevations were closed highway 29 over mount st helena was closed not only due to snow, but a number of fallen trees that completely blocked the road

calistoga picked up nine inches of snow in the north bay. lower amount as you go lower in elevation, but the snow line pushed down to around 1000 feet this morning. since then, it has risen backup. in terms of the amount of rain, this was a nice rain event for us, two thirds of an inch in san jose, over one inch in san francisco and one inch around kentfield. and we had thunderstorms last night producing small, soft hail, the little pellets that fell, and over 200 lightning strikes around the bay area last night into early this morning. a lot of those were offshore, but a lot of those were also overland around the bay area. we are going to have a break in the action right now. the first alert doppler shows activity through the central valley and still snowing through the sierra, some of that is going to be back later tonight. we will talk about that and we will track the next wave of rain that is not too far away, coming up in a few minutes. >> probably the biggest issue has been along highway 17 in the santa cruz mountains, it was shut down

in the north bay we had about an inch of rain from napa to santa rosa, calistoga had almost an inch andalf of rain, 2 inches for san rafael, and for the east bay, three-quarters of an inch of rain in livermore towards about the same in oakland and an inch of rain in concord, almost an inch of rain in san francisco, and almost a half inch of rain in san jose. but as you move toward the santa cruz mountains, it was nearly 4 inches of rainfall for weekend. looking at where we stand at this point for water year rain update, santa rosa has measured over 25 inches of rainfall, and we're still at a surplus of nearly 6 inches of rainfall. san francisco as well as oakland had about 22 inches of rain. and then livermore, we had 17 inches of rain, which is 8 1/2 inch s of rainfall above what's normal. we're also well above normal for this year, the snow pack putting us at a statewide average of 206%. mammoth mountain tweeted out they topped 400 inches of snow for the season. if we don't get any more snow, we'll still end out the year with above-normal snow pack as we head into spring. we're back t
