bob is live at the caltrains station with the latest. >> good morning. san jose was not part of the initial plans for high speed rail. initially high speed rail would be in the central valley and then eventually at a hater date expand out to the major population centers. there has been criticism over the decision to build the first leg earning the nickname train to nowhere. in a few hours the train authority will reconsider that decision. when the board meets they will talk about extending the first leg to include much larger population centers. three routes under consideration are san jose to bakersfield, merced to palmdale, merced to san fernando valley, those last two routes would be taking the train closer to the l.a. basin. if they choose the san jose route getting to san jose from bakersfield five stops. and then bakersfield, that would be a trip that would take under two hours top speeds of 220 miles an hour. high speed rail would not only connect to silicon valley but to san francisco and sacramento. don't forget you have caltrain which travels t

bart, muni and caltrain all losing out on money they thought they were going to get from the high-speedail fund. bart take the biggest hit, $35 million that it needs to buy new railcars. the bart fleet is the oldest in the country. some have been on the rails almost 40 years since before jerry brown was governor the first time. and bart says without the money from the state it won't be able to upgrade the trains. as far as muni, the governor is going to take away $27 million to help build the new central subway that links the south of market area with chinatown. that's a $1.5 billion project so losing $27 million probably won't hurt muni nearly as much. caltrain is going to lose $4 million that it was planning to spend converting some diesel powered trains to electric. both bart and muni say they won't give up the money without a fight. they are going to try to convince the governor to restore the funding. >> i read something that bart spokesman had said like wait a minute, the governor used to ride these trains. has he lumped us in with the wrong group? >> they hope they have a sympath
