it's taken caltran longer than projected to fix a crack in a bridge support. one lane is still shut down. terry mcsweeney is on the bridge with an update. terry? >> caltran's crews came out here half an hour ago. they rolled the truck up to the problem. that flashing yellow light. there's no work over there right now. hoped to have everything fixed up by yesterday's commute. back out here this morning get at it. you can see that the crack in a steel beam underneath the bridge. it's a small crack and a 30-foot beam but enough for concern. the repairs consist of 6 foot long steel plates above and blow that beam. a beam installed nine years ago as part of a earthquake retrofit. >> allows the bridge to move from side to side 3 feet either way so it was roll with the punches during a earthquake. >> the folks at caltran are pointing out there's a silver lining. that is when they go around doing their work, their inspections to see that the bridges are safe they work and turn up problems and turned up this 9 inch crack in a 30 foot long beam and they are on the case.
