caltrans plans to close all westbound lanes during the presidents' day weekend. anne makovec is on treasure island and it all depends on the weather i guess. it's raining now. >> reporter: today's weather would not be helpful to this closure plan which is for february. it's one of these things you just got to get through it. but they are hoping that leading up to it enough drivers are going to even if out about this that it's not going to be a huge traffic problem. this is all in an effort to speed up construction of the new eastern span here behind me. you can see that singular tower. everything is coming along ahead of schedule with thi project. the closure will affect westbound traffic planned for february 18, 19 and 20. it's going to last two to three days contingent upon rain which could derail the plan. construction of the east span has been speeding ahead of schedule and february's closure will allow the roadway to be reconfigured leading drivers to a new temporary westbound detour. they are going to have to restripe the road for that which needs to be dry

i did speak with the people at caltrans, they do not know the cause of the problem but they have dispatched an electrician to the scene. they have been on seen for about 15 minutes trying to diagnose the problem. reports are, near yerba buena island there are no lights. with your headlights that should not create a huge problem but it is an area of concern. there are a number of bridge advisories in effect this morning. in the early morning hours the san mateo bridge did have a fog the advisory but that has been lifted. on the san mateo bridge there had been a fogged advisory but no more. things have cleared out. it is the golden gate bridge that is quite foggy this morning. the chp has not issued an advisory the you can see that visibility is definitely down as he had across the stand. a quick check on the road sensors. there is some slowing through franklin cameron-- franklin canyon. interstate 80, still a good ride. the north bay riot through marin county is still moving well from nevada to the golden gate bridge. let's get a check on whether including more information about the fog. >>e
