and in the course of the tet offensive, i ended up moving that battery, we moved from the cambodia border to saigon. so it was in the areas that the tet offensive lost by -- including the embassy and i think one of the companies in our unit lead the assault to recapture the embassy. mine was brought in and we were positioned at the air base. which was in close support of downtown saigon, and we were out there and one of my favorite stories of that situation is my guys, we have been going nonstop, day in and day out for about five days. and the guys were totally exhausted and i got separated from them for a couple of days and then got back to them and when i got back to them i had orders. everywhere i went i was being told that you got to report here and there. when i got there i was to report to the commanding officer division artillery and there's an incident with my unit. and while i was out in the x.o. was running things. i reported and they say they stood down the battery. which means the battery, they evaluated that the battery was not in a condition to fight because of exhaustion. s
